Slate vsx plugin 'blocklist' cubase Cubase Pro 13

I have purchased the Steven Slate VSX headphones. Downloads and installation were straight forward. Unfortunately when attempting to use the the plug within Cubase, it does not appear. Checked the Plug-in Manager and the VSX has been ‘Blocklisted’ . I have tried to unblock but Cubase crashes and closes down. I have other Steven slate plugins that work fine. Has anyone else had this issue or can anyone advise how to resolve.
Just as side note, have recently upgraded from Cubase pro 10.5 to Cubase pro 13. I am wondering if it is because on the e-licenser it shows ’ Cubase 11 (updated to steinberg .)

Hi,

That’s great, that Cubase blocklisted the plug-in, if it crashes. Great job, Cubase!

Are you on Mac or Windows, please?

Please, get in touch with the plug-in’s vendor.

No. 13 licensing is the new activation manager, elicenser stopped at C11.

VSX is working fine here on W11 with C13 btw. You should definitely contact Slate support, they’re generally pretty quick to respond.

Thank you Martin. I have contacted the vendor who has advised to contact Slate Audio which I have and I also have contacted Cubase support. Messaged on here just in case anyone else had a similar experience. that could be helpful.

Hi Grim, thank you.
Not sure if you can help. I have bought a new laptop. I was on Cubase 10.5 pro on Windows 8 and I am now on Windows 11. Do I need to transfer Cubase 10.5 pro to the new laptop as well as download Cubase 13 Pro to the new laptop for the the e-licenser dongle to be up date to the new licensing system. Hope that makes sense?

You won’t need to install 10.5 on the laptop…but if you haven’t yet activated C13 I think you might need the elicenser. If you already used 13 on another computer I think you can do it all in activation manager.

I bought a new Workstation and I’m having a similar problem. I reinstalled Windows 11 and now rolled back to Windows 10. Fresh install, nothing else installed. And Slate VSX.dll is immediately moved to the Cubase 11 blocklist and crashes Cubase instantly as soon as I try to reactivate it.

Did you ever solve this problem?

It’s driving me nuts and halted all work in the studio.

I contacted Slate support and went round in circles for a few hours with all the usual reinstallation suggestions and they suggested contacting Steinberg. They were pretty unhelpful to be honest. Steinberg hasn’t replied at all.

Everything else is working fine… Surely it can’t be a hardware problem? But I don’t understand why its affected 3 complete OS reinstalls. Maybe its the latest Windows update causing it. But I can’t be the only one?

HELP!

Unfortunately no. I have sent my VSX headphones back as it seems Cubase or Steven Slate do not know what the issue is, so I had to give up. Gutted as I use the VSX at work with Cubase and have no issues.

Hi, I understand it’s probably too late. But I think I have found a solution

So, reports have been coming in of new AMD processors not working with iLok. It’s required a motherboard BIOS update to fix.

I bought a new 9950x workstation for mastering work and I’ve not been able to use VSX since I got it, not with 3 different OS installs. Which led me to believe it was hardware related rather than software. This is now confirmed.

Many motherboard updates have fixed the problem for people. I just downloaded the latest bios update for my board but I haven’t tested it yet. At least I know what the problem is for me.

Do you have an AMD chip and newer motherboard?

I am using a Asus Vivobook S15 amd 9 laptop. 1tb and 32gb ram. I have seen the BIOS updates however Asus has not released a update for my model of laptop.
Please let me know how you get on with the BIOS update!

Totally fixed the problem immediately after bios update.

I’ve been waiting a month to use my new workstation in the studio, but without the VSX software I was unable to.

I’m waiting on new monitors so I’ve been forced to use headphones for the moment, so it was a bit of a nightmare it not working.

Hopefully a bios update will fix your issue too.

The thing to look for is “Agesa” support fix. This seemed to be the motherboard software support that was broken.

The additional confusion is why does Cubase Blocklist the .dll for VSX as I can only assume this has nothing to do with iLok or the BIOS?
