Slaving the UR824 to the UR816C

Okay, first up… apologies if this has been covered somewhere. I looked.

I have some pretty annoying difficulties with the UR824 in terms of drivers and it just not wanting to work.

I decided to swap it out with the UR816C and, as my home studio becomes increasingly compensatory for my human inadequacies, and the fact that I like ‘permanent’ ins and outs for my hardware… I would like to use the additional IO (probably not even as simultaneous recording ins but as I mention, just to have dedicated IO for different bits of fear)

… is this as simple as telling the UR824 that it being clocked by ADAT, setting the sample rate and connecting it through light cables? Should I be running a click call;e too? I don’t have one… yet.

Sure, I figure I’ll have to mess on with the routing in the dip… control panel but I have never down this before.

Thank you if this makes sense and you can help.

I looked into this and/or similar arrangements some time ago. I ended up using my UR824 as master and a Behringer ADA8000 as slave with TOSLINK cables . Some of these links might help you figure it all out although they are not the exact answer you’re looking for:

All turned out to be pretty simple.
Set the UR824 as clocked fromADAT and set sample rates the same on both interfaces.

Needed two optical wires as the 824 seems to need the ‘in’ to clock from? I dunno… it’s working as is using both optical wires and didn’t with just one.

Thanks for those topics, they were useful to me.

No problems. I found I needed two ADAT cables with my setup too.
