Hey man, sorry your dog died. My sister’s died a few months back and she found it very difficult to handle, as he was a real part of the family for 16 years. We get so attached.

As for the song, I like it spacially, good space. The only thing that’s a bit off for me (you wouldn’t post it here if you didn’t want honest feedback) is the drums. They’re a bit flat in parts, not exciting enough. And I’d put a gap between the changes in rhythm (~1:50), something to mentally prepare for the change, because it feels awkward as is, like I just tripped and changed stride, awkwardly, and the new stride is more timid. But it’s all subjective in the end. Those are just my two cents. Other than that, I really like it. Good luck with it!

thank you, really appreciate the kind words, the listen, and the feedback!

the ‘awkward’ change is intentional–kind of a nod to my proggier side. I believe the little transition continues the triplet feel for three beats, except there’s no last ‘ta’ for the third beat, so it’s like one-ta-ta, two-ta-ta, three-ta, and then the one of the chorus (with its straight feel). I agree listening back I could’ve made that sound more intentional.

sorry to hear about your sister’s dog–pets really are family.
