Slurs and grace note

Hi!

This the default spacing of the slur between these two notes. I’m wondering if there is a better option. I don’t see anything that resembles to this situation in the Elaine Gould book.

Thanks for your help!

Flipping the stem on the grace note might help integrate the slur even if that were non-standard.

Hi there

Yes, that’s quite bad as a default.

The only fixes are manual. Shape the slur so it slopes in the direction of the notes, but don’t let it balloon too much. Something like this:

The slur endpoints can move away from the noteheads here because there is no ambiguity about what notes are encompassed by the slur. But it should be near enough that it’s noticed.

I would prefer to move the grace note left a bit to allow the slur to have a chance, but there may not be space available for that.

Hope that’s of some use
Jeremy

That helps a lot! It looks great now!
