Hi everybody,
I know there has been previous discussion about this, but I don’t know if anyone could help me to figure out why some slurs that I’ve written in the bassoon 2 part appear correctly in the bassoon 2 part and in the galley view of the full score, but don’t appear at all in the full score.
Here is Rehearsal K in the bassoon 2 part:
Here is the same passage in the condensed page-view full score:
The slurs for bassoon 1 appear fine, but not the slurs for bassoon 2.
Here is the Dorico file for just this movement:
Bezanson – Concerto for Piano and Orchestra – 2024 Golzmane Edition - Flow 1 only.dorico (2.7 MB)
Maybe try having the condensed bassoons in two separate voices, upstem/downstem?

I wonder why the “f” of the second basoon would also be missing in the condensed staff…

Putting an Condensing Change right at the beginning of K, activating manual condensing with Bassoon 1 on first upstem voice and Bassoon 2 on first downstem voice works.
I suspect a bug here under the hood, as there really is nothing special I could see that would prevent Dorico from doing the right thing in the first place.
Yes, I keep encountering more and more bugs as my score gets longer and more complicated. It’s hard to figure out why some things do transfer between parts and score, and some things do not. If I close the software and reopen it, the parameters of what transfers changes inexplicably.
There is a condensing change in the middle of bar 10 which forces both bassoons into an up-stem voice. If you add another condensing change at rehearsal K which resets the manual condensing and changes the Minimum length to hide rests for silent players to 1, then the woodwinds on page 25 of the full score look like this:

Wow! Thank you so much! I would have never thought of this. There’s so much nuance to learn with this software. I’ve now been able to duplicate your result. Thank you!

Can I ask another question about what you said? Why does upstem/downstem matter in this case? I guess I’m still not clear on how these terms are truly used in Dorico.
I don’t know why forcing both bassoons into an up-stem voice should prevent the slurs and dynamic marking for the second bassoon from appearing at rehearsal K in the condensed score. There are several issues involving condensing that don’t seem to work as one would expect. Hopefully they will be addressed in future updates to Dorico.
