Small thing about key editor that drives me nuts

First off, I LOVE the new multi-part key editor. I always just used to open the key editor in the lower zone, but this has given me the chance to get to know the full sized window better and I can honestly say I much prefer it now. It’s integral to my workflow.

One minor annoyance though - I have my key editor open on my second screen. When I double click on an event and the key editor opens on the other screen, it does not automatically focus to that window. So part of my workflow is opening the key editor and immediately doing Ctrl-A to select all of the notes so I make major adjustments quickly. Instead now, I must click on the key edit screen first otherwise the select all will instead select all of the events in the Project window.

Tldr: I would appreciate it if the key editor would auto-focus to that window on open.

Hi,

Isn’t it easier to select the other MIDI Part within the Key Editor window?

Btw, do you double-click or single-click?

You are on Windows, right?

It definitely would be if I didn’t share the second screen with the mixconsole as well. So basically I close the key editor once I am done with it so that I can see the mixconsole by default. When I double click an event, the mixconsole is replaced by the key editor.

If you have an easier workflow to recommend, I’m open.

Hi,

What about to use Workspaces?

I’ll be honest, I have never actually use this feature. If you have a sec, could you give me an example of how this could help me?

Hi,

You prepare multiple sets of the windows positions:

  • Mixing: Project window at screen 1; MixConsole at screen 2.
  • MIDI Editing: Key Edit at screen 1; Score Editor at 1/2 of screen 2; Project window at 1/2 of screen 2
  • Recording: big Time Display and Project window at screen 1.
  • etc.

Then you can call any Workspace by a Key Command without closing and opening any window manually.
