Snap-to-grid problem

Hi!

Still using CB 5, because I’m just a musician that don’t want to relearn technical stuff all the time.

My problem:
Snap on/off is set to ON
Snap Type is set to GRID
Grid Type is set to USE QUANTIZE
Quantize is set to 1/1
Result: no audio parts snaps at 1.1.00 of a bar. Instead they snap at 2.3.96 (i zoomed in maximum and checked). All parts snap at 2.3.96 when Q is set to 1/1. It’s like there is an invisible grid almost half a bar to the right, that everything snaps to. If I change Q to 1/2 or 1/4 or whatever, the “invisible grid” gets more fine grained accordingly, but still far off where it should be. Midi-parts still works fine, the problem is strictly audio related.

This phenomena started right in the middle of working. It worked perfectly up to that point. I might have accidentally changed some global setting I don’t know exist? My music project has come to a halt because of this :frowning:
Any help greatly appreciated!

Hi,

I believe, this is the Snap point thing in the Audio event, again… Read for example this thread.

Hi Martin!
Thanks for super swift answering!
What is “the snap point thing in the Audio event”? (sorry for being ignorant…)

Hi,

Read for example this thread, please.

Or check this section in the manual:

Martin.Jirsak and Croissant - THANKS! You just taught me what “snap point” is and solved my problem!

What I still don’t understand is if there is a way to change the snap point globally? Do I have to open each and every one of them and change, or can I just tell CB to set ALL snap points to ZERO?

Hi @Kungen

I’d be surprised if the snap point of every audio event was modified.

However, to quickly reset the snap point, you could use the following shortcuts in a macro:

  • L (for setting transport to start of selected event
  • Audio > Snap Point to Cursor

In the manual is a list of things to keep in mind.

Thanks for the heads-up, @st10ss!

Here’s the relevant part of the documentation:

The event snap point is set as follows:

  • If you record an audio event, the snap point is set to the next grid position.
  • If you bounce a selection, the snap point is set to the start of the new event or to the first snap point that you set manually.
  • If you bounce a range selection, the snap point is set to the start of the new event or to the first snap point that you set manually.
  • If you freeze an audio event, the snap point is set to the start of the new event or to the first snap point that you set manually.
  • If you export audio, the snap point is set to the start of the new audio file.
