Solo Violin with Section Violins

Folks, I’m sure this has come up before. I have a violin section playing together, then stop (m162). In the next measure (m163), one violin plays a short solo. I want to notate these on the same staff in Dorico 6; however, I cannot seem to do this and have it reflect in playback. The “solo” snippet continues playing the section violin patch when notated on the same staff. I want that snippet to use the single violin player patch instead. I am using NotePerformer, btw.

First, assign all Solo notes to a new (upstem/downstem) voice that you won’t use for anything else in the project. Hide all superfluous rests so the voice change is essentially invisible. Then go to Play mode, select the violin stem and enable independent voice playback. This gives you a series of sub-stems (one for each voice) that all have their own NP instrument, you can then reassign the relevant one to a solo sound.
