[solved] AKAI APC40 MkII: Fighting with MIDI Remote

Hi there,

I’m really fighting with the MIDI Remote here.
Using the above mentioned controller + Maschine Mikro Mk 3 + Novation SL Zero MkII (as generic remote controller, which is rock solid) and an ICON Pro 1st gen. in Mackie mode.

I started having problems after updating C14 to 14.0.30 or so.
Suddenly (mainly) the APC40 disappeared on a regular basis with no discernible pattern. Or it appeared
2 times, than 3 times and so on. I also stated to see loss of controller mappings around this time (which equally applied to C13 now as well + the Maschine Mikro).
The irony of this is that the APC40 MkII is part of the integrated controller presets in Cubase’s MIDI Remote.

I’ve been trying for months now to make it work. I’m reading all the related forum posts with “MIDI Remote” tag, watched a ton of YT videos, read the manual, all of which was of no real help.

Now I had to roll back to C13 13.0.41 for the MIDI Remote to become stable again, at least for the Maschine Mikro, which I created myself with the surface editor (after uninstalling both Cubase versions, deleting user folders (/documents/Steinberg/… and app data folders, after backing them up).

Finally I resigned to remove physically all occurrences of Steinberg provided controller presets from my PC and recreated the APC40 by hand via the surface editor again (in C13, losing a couple of functions like 2nd, 3rd level encoder usage). After that, it also opened correctly in C14 … now I just have to reassign all those buttons and knobs :face_exhaling:

||| [Edit] The parameter banks problems is solved. I just watched a Greg Ondo video on YouTube explaining it very clearly: https://youtu.be/rucngo6i6qs |||
