[Solved] Batch process does not process all files

I’ve noticed for days that the batch process no longer processes all files.
If I move 20 files from the file browser into the process list, only 19 files arrive. If I put 6 files in, only 5 arrive there.
If I insert the missing file later, it says the file is already being processed. (No - it’s just not in the to-do list)

At the moment I’m moving the files one by one into the process list. I now have to reinstall W11 because I can no longer play the game with 400 files.
Has anyone experienced something similar or am I the only one?

Hi!

If I chose 13 files in Batch and use Counter prefix
it works but first file will become 0 file
second file will be 1 and so on… to 12 = 13 files
and this is with OSX Ventura on MacBook Air M1
so it works here

I really don’t see that here. But maybe you are mistakenly copying a non-audio file, like a peak file that would sit near the real audio file (in which case, it is simply ignored by WaveLab).
Please check it again.

Thank you.
I have made a screencapure.

I marked the 6 files EMT948_01 … EMT948_06 and moved them to the process list.
The first two files (EMT948_01 and _02) then appear in ONE line in the process list. I don’t know why the 2 files are on ONE line.
In the task list you can see that only 5 files are being processed. Although I marked all 6 files. Only 5 temporary files will then be written.
All files are approximately 1 GB in size and recorded in Cubase and Nuendo.
I can repeat this endlessly.

Simply uncheck the following option to solve your problem. This option, when activated, causes WaveLab to use the file name suffix to determine if they should be treated as dual-mono files (without actually checking if they are mono, which is somehow a mistake)

Thank you. That was the problem.
However, I don’t understand why WaveLab processes unique stereo recordings from Cubase as dual mono files. These are stereo recordings from digitized records and tapes.
This has never been the case in the last 10 years. But the main thing is that it works. Thanks.

In WaveLab 12, the dual-mono file detection, based on file name suffix, was updated to accept patterns like flute_01.wav / flute_02.wav (this is customizable, but this is the new default). This pattern was requested by some users. This is the only difference with WaveLab <= 11.

When files are inserted in the batch process list, only file name matching is done. to detect dual-mono files The files are not opened and analysed to see if there are mono or stereo.

Hence the issue you have encountered, and my solution.

Thank you.
This of course explains why the first two files are combined for all recordings in Cubase/Nuendo, since the first recordings of a track always get _01 and _02. Therefore, when opened in Nuendo, the first two clips had never been edited by WaveLab.

In WaveLab 12.0.20, I will modify the software so that if two files display a dual-mono pattern but are stereo files, they will not be recognized as dual-mono files. Additionally, the “Accept dual-mono files” option will be disabled by default, as this is not the most common use case.
