Jochen was able to help me quickly. The soft eLicenser was corrupted. Now exploring Dorico. Thanks again!
On itaiso76 machine, I’ve deleted the Soft-eLicenser manually before running the helper tool.
You can do this easily by deleting the SeLicenser.sel which can be found in:
“Name of your Hard Drive” → Library → Application Support → Syncrosoft Soft-eLicenser
Afterwards run the helper tool to create a new Soft-eLicenser.
Hi Jochen,
thanks for the instructions. I did that, but still happens the same crash. My doubt now is about the helper tool. When I asked for the respective OS I’m running, Sierra isn’t listed. So I go with El Capitan, just because is the previous one.
Besides that I would like to clarify that my problem isn’t specific to a Dorico behavior thing. I’m here because it seems to be the same eLicenser/activation code issue that is happening with people in this topic. I’m trying to activate an AI code, but also already tried activate some other trials from Steinberg.
Thanks again
Hi monkzelaya,
I have sent you a pm.
Cheers,
Jochen
Hi I’m having exactly the same problem. Tried everything above and even turning off Sierr’as System Integrity Protection. Same problem. Crashes when the last digit is entered into eLicenser …
What to do?
best, Martin
I’m having the exact same problem: Elicenser Control Center crashes immediately when I try to enter my Cubase 8.5 activation code. MacOs Sierra, latest version of Elicenser, tried all the steps above including deleting the .sel file manually and running the helper. Jochen, can you please help me out?
Thank you,
Jondi
Same issue with me. Tried all the steps, and added complete un-install of Cubase8 Elements, and all Steinberg software on my MacBook Pro with Seirra. There is definitely a bug, and I now have about 10 Bogus elicencer on MySteinberg account that I will need to delete.
Fix this please, I have work to do. :>)
Our eLicenser team are working hard to try to establish why eLCC is crashing on some Sierra machines, but by no means all of them. I will share news here as soon as I have any.

Here is my most recent crash report.
Hi all,
like Daniel already mentioned, our eLicenser Team is working on a solution.
However, in this Post I will include all known workarounds which can help in some situations.
\
- Install eLicenser Control Center Version: 6.8.1.14153 (http://www.steinberg.net/en/company/technologies/elicenser.html).
Thias can also help when your USB-eLicenser is not recognized.
Before running the old installer, make sure you have uninstalled the current version (Version: 6.10.2.18201) completely by using the included uninstaller.
- Use the Helper Tool to create a new Soft-eLicenser (http://support.steinberg.de/elc/mac/elc-installation-helper.zip)
If you wan’t to use a USB-eLicenser instead, you can delete the Soft-eLicenser.
To do so, please delete “SeLicenser.sel”. ( “Your Hard Drive” → Library → Application Support → Syncrosoft Soft-eLicenser).
-
Remove the eLicenserCore.framework file from the eLicenser Tools folder. (Your Hard Drive → Library → Application Support → eLicenser → Tools)
-
Remove or rename the AuthenticationSupport.plugin (Your Hard Drive → System → Library → Extension)
Cheers,
Jochen
Thanks for the update Jochen. I tried the steps above, including the uninstall, reinstalling 6.8.1.14153, and removing all the files for the soft licenser as described, but still got the same crash.
Please let us know if you have other ideas to try. Message me if you need any log files or any other system information.
Thanks,
Jondi
Sorry to say, but it’s the same here. Quits when the last element is entered.
best, Martin
Hi Daniel, Jochen and everybody,
finally I’ve bought an USB eLicenser and installed on my 2. computer, a 13" MacBook Pro. Since 2 days I am exploring Dorico on this laptop. I hope the USB licenser will work on the other, problematic desktop computer.
Now 2 questions to Daniel:
-
I’ve started a new project. I would like to have my name as composer on the top right of the first page. I’ve filled out File–Project Info with everything required. In Master Page Editor, I can see {@flowComposer@} token, but I don’t know, closing MasterPage Editor, why composer name is hidden. What I have to do to see it?
-
How can I make visible my first page number (3) on my first page?
Thank you very much!
You need to edit the Composer field in the Project Info dialog for your flow, rather than for the project itself: use the menu at the top of Project Info to change where you are entering the information.
You can add the token {@page@} to a text frame on the First master page definition, which you can double-click to edit; there’s no page number token on the first master page definition by default.
If you are the only composer to be represented in your composition, as an alternative you can replace {@flowComposer@} with {@_project_Composer@} in your layout(s).
Thank you for your Feedback guys. I think we have collected enough CrashDumps now, but I will let you know if we need more Information.
I forgot to mention that you can also activate the license on a different system when using a USB-eLicenser.
Just download the eLicenser Control Center and connect your USB-eLicenser. Follow the activation process and download the license. After downloading the license successfully, you can connect the USB-eLicenser with the affected machine and run your product.
Thanks Jochen – the authorization worked on another Mac.
Thank you, Daniel, thank you, Jochen,
finally works Dorico on both of my computers with USB eLicenser!!! I am SO happy! Toworrow I’ll start a new piece for flute, violoncello, piano & female choir ---- in Dorico! I’ve just made the Master Page & Project Info changings and it looks to working fine. I’ve found out a lot of new shortcuts too, just for efficiency.
@Daniel,
now I can see my name in Composer frame on the 1. page. I also made my new Page number frame in Master Page First. Thanks!
Btw. can I copy frames together with their content?
Can I align somehow the frames to the left, right or centre of the pages?
@Derrek,
yes, I’ve substituted flowComposer with projectComposer. Of course it s better.
All the best! For sure I’ll have MORE and MORE questions…
It might be better to start or (better still) find and join a separate thread like
to talk about your title page questions. Rather than centering frames on a page, I tend to make them page wide and center the text within them.
