I cannot save the file and a message appears saying ‘Error saving file’. Not that the piece is important, I was just playing around to try something, but now I’m seriously worried. What if this happens when I’m doing serious work?
There is an older thread from Oct 2020 but I couldn’t find a solution in it.
What I can remember is that I reset the keyboard shortcuts shortly beforehand. Everything else is in the dark…

Can you “Save As…” to your desktop? Perhaps the working directory Dorico is attempting to save it into doesn’t have write permissions.
Yes, I can. But normal saving does not work. I have two other pages open that I can save to the same target position (desktop) without any problems.
So it is just this file? You can’t save this file to any other location?
Dorico does autosaves every few minutes (which you can set in Preferences), as well as a backup copy when you do save.
I just found out that I can now save the file normally after trying “Save as”.

Well, it’s clear it isn’t the file, so it must be the destination that “normal saving” uses.
Desktop, and there’s no problem with other files. I will mark the thread solved
