[solved] Wavelab 9 - a few questions

Hi

I am still undecided whether to buy a full WL 12 Pro (70% off) or to upgrade from WL 7 Elements (50%) and get access to old versions of WL.

I am looking especially at WL 9, because it seems like it’s the first version that has gotten dark interface, which I like.

So, my questions are:

1). Is WL9 supposed to run on Windows 7 without any problem?

2). Can WL9 run on high contrast themes in Win7, or does it require Aero Glass theme, like with Cubase 8?

3). If I upgrade from WL 7 Elements to WL 12 Pro, will I be able to use WL 7, 8, 9 and 10 as Pro versions?

  1. According to the old Quick Start Guide, WL 9 officially supported Win 7 and I guess it still works with it.
  2. Sorry, I don’t know.
  3. Yes, together with the dongle .

You will be able to use WaveLab Pro 11 and 12, but not earlier versions, because they require a dongle.

I do have a dongle with Wavelab 7 Elements on it.

Steinberg offers this upgrade:

https://checkout.steinberg.net/session/HTZT-kLzQ3m-XHVzmOAr-g

However, they don’t exactly explain what “WaveLab Pro 12 Upgrade from WaveLab Elements 10 / 9.5 / 9 / 8 / 7” is. I know, that I will have the newest Wavelab Pro which is 12 and 11, and I know they don’t require a dongle.

But what will happen to my old Wavelab 7 Elements license? Will it remain “Wavelab 7 Elements” or will it become “Wavelab 7 Pro” after the upgrade?

I explained this in more detail here: Will upgrading WL 7 Elements to WL 12 Pro give me a WL 7 Pro license?

I find it funny that Steinberg do offer this upgrade on their own website, but it seems like they refuse to answer, what will happen to the old licenses on the eLicenser, once you do the “upgrade”…

I mean I get it, they want the old licensing system to die, so they can switch over to the new system, but is it so hard to give a clear answer to a customer, who wants to give you money, what exactly you are getting for your purchase??
