Sound cuts off

I often have the problem that the sound cuts out. It can happen while I’m typing notes, or it can happen between plays.

When this happens, I can fix it for a while with this procedure:

  1. Switch to play mode.
  2. Change routing from HALion Sonic to DoricoBeep
  3. Press “play”.
  4. Wait for a faint click in the speaker.
  5. Switch back to HALion Sonic.
  6. Go back to write mode.

What could be the cause?

Best regards,
Niels

Hi Niels, when the sound cuts out, could you please do from Dorico’s menu Help > Create Diagnostic Report? That creates a zip file on your desktop. Please attach that to a reply here. Thanks

Hi Ulf,
I am attaching 2 diagnostic files: No. 1 was shortly after the sound disappeared in the middle of a piece. No. 2 is immediately after I performed the procedure described above, which brought the sound back.
I hope this is useful.
Dorico Diagnostics 1.zip (523.6 KB)
Dorico Diagnostics 2.zip (529.0 KB)

Niels

Thanks for the data @nfoldager.
Unfortunately I can oly find the log file following lines
2025-05-04 18:06:47 : setTransportRunning: Start at project time: 9.747667, system time: 5610.105000
2025-05-04 18:06:48 : setTransportRunning: Stop

Did you consciously issue the stop command

Yes. I thought the log file shouldn’t be too long after the sound came back.

What was the VSTinstrument setup when the cut off happened? Only HALion Sonic, or third party, NotePerformer,…?

HALion Sonic, only.

How about if you follow the advice I gave in this thread?

Thank you, Ulf.

Sampling was already set to 48.000.

The result from LatencyMon is OK; also during playing back.

I now changed the Halion Sonic setting to 6 cores (It was Off).

As the drop out is random, I need some time to see if this has changed anything.

Best regards,
Niels
