Sound gone in Cubase after disconnecting audio interface

P.S. I should hear the audio output after disconnecting the audio interface, and I do now. Sometimes you want to record something at home, then take your laptop and go somewhere else for inspiration to spin it further on your computer. That would not be possible otherwise. I guess you misunderstood the problem, it is hard to explain without a recording of my screen

Cubase is addressing always exactly one audio device. If you disconnect the current device, then you have to tell Cubase which other device to use.
