Now that the E License support is ending if my dongle fails certain programmes will not run.
Up until now it was obvious you couldn’t have multiple licenses but, would it be possible to copy mine onto a blank spare that I have for the future.
Yes it means having 2 licenses but I need to future proof my stuff
That is not possible, you can’t copy licenses in the eLicenser Control Center, just move. This is documented in the Support article.
So I bought a spare for no good reason all those years ago and would have to buy new software again. Good scam Steinberg.
You bought that in case the current dongle breaks. In that case you could bring all your licenses to the spare dongle immediately.
For the new Steinberg Licensing they are not used anymore and that is known since 2022. You don’t need to buy new software, you just update your current licenses. Small difference in there.
Can’t seem to find the article.
For example i want to use Cubase 11 Pro and it says i need a license.
I go to my original download code and enter but they look for the Elicense dongle.
Which article?
Yes, that release requires a USB eLicenser and the correct license. Until Cubase 11 the eLicenser was used, so if you have Cubase Pro 11 you must use the USB dongle.
It started with Cubase 12 in 2022 when Steinberg switched to Steinberg Licensing. Cubase 12 and all following releases are activated via the Activation Manager. Here you do not need the USB stick anymore.
