I am using Cubase 14 Pro and I want to use Spectralayers to separate audio primarily from gameplay scenes / cutscenes from video games as that is my way of practicing composing by rescoring them. It seems that the newer iterations of Spectralayers 12/13 are the better options to do so than 11, but I am confused on the price model. I know I will have to upgrade to Cubase 15 to use SL 12/13, but how much will it cost to upgrade to the pro models from the Go version that Cubase 15 comes with. Also, is it in your opinion worth it to use Spectralayers as a means to separate the different audios in the game to get rid of the music for me to layer my own rescorings over them? Thank you!
I would suggest you dive in the recently launched 60 days trial to answer your functional questions and to see what you are able to do with Spectralayers.
This is the link to compare the differing features, plus at the end, it shows the upgrade options if you click the “Buy Now” option under the “Upgrade from L240” text (including the Upgrade from Spectralayers Go).
Consider also, that there are crossgrade discounts for owners of related software from other brands.
You don’t need Cubase 15 to use SpectraLayers 12/13 as an ARA extension.
As a matter of fact, SpectraLayers 12/13 runs better on Cubase 14, since Cubase 15 introduces a bug that doesn’t report Track/Part colours correctly to SpectraLayers, making it impossible to discriminate the Layers in SpectraLayers (all of them become white). So Cubase 14 is better than 15 in that respect.
