Hi all,
Back in covid times, I took up a hobby - learning all there is about reverb and perhaps implementing one. Very quickly I realised that just coding made me quite slow, and came up with a small visual tool to arrange and connect “components”. Yes, I know it’s been done, but each tool I tried came with a bunch of limitations and idiosyncracies and often a learning curve.
A few years on, the app has a sizeable library of primitives, filters, delays, i/o, multiplexers, logic etc etc and let’s you visually design an effect or instrument. You can test and modify your design in real time without even stopping execution. It can export a VST Effect or VST Instrument and also has a VSTGUI editor that exports to VSTGUI uidesc. I’ve put plenty of time into documentation. It’s a bit rough around the edges, true, but I find it very useful.
So I’ve been working on this for a while now and thought maybe some of the developers here can find it useful - if nothing else - for prototyping. If there is enough interest to contribute, I am open to open sourcing the lot (though some parts of the code are a bit embarassing ) .
The app is called Spektar and can be found on spektar.io. You can use it for free, there are presently only limitations for commercial use - and I am open for debate on that too.
I’d thank you to go easy on this - it’s a hobby project!
