I’ve searched but found no solution for this:
Is there seriously no way to join the triplet in either of these staves? It’s not only ugly, but would probably cause confusion for the average player on a first or second read.

What if you select the first note and create a system break, or if you select the 3d note and press , (comma)?
Unfortunately, that just crams the whole cadenza into a single staff. Not pretty, and not readable..
Probably because 'Wait for next system break" is activated somewhere in the properties panel for one of your system breaks?
Is the system break actually over the first note of the triplet, or did it get moved to a barline? In Write mode, you can move or cut/paste the system break signpost exactly where you want it.
Here’s the file. It’s a 33/4 measure to get all the notes in and spaced properly.
Sonata no. 1 in F.dorico (1.4 MB)

Yes, actually the system break is created at the beginning of the system in this case.
So you can switch to Write Mode, select it and Alt-click it at the beginning of your triplet.
(And give the solution to @asherber because he said it before I did!)
My suggestion is to set the Note Spacing default space for crotchet/quarter note in Layout Options to 3 7/8 spaces and to delete the two system breaks on the first page.
Okay, that’s just nuts. Where was that in the manual and how do you guys know so much?

I’m going to try that to see if things look better overall as well. Thanks!
