Split flow multi‑rest

I have three flows labeled A, B, and C. Since I didn’t need the latter part of flow A, I used Split Flow, which resulted in A flow, A‑2 flow, B flow, and C flow. I then set up the layout to show only A, B, and C flows. However, in flow A, the section that was split off still appears as a multi‑rest of 34 bars. How can I make sure that the multi‑rest from the split section does not appear in flow A?

After splitting, even if I delete the A‑2 flow, the multi‑rest still remains in flow A. How can I resolve this so that the multi‑rest does not continue to appear?

Hi @k.k, without analizying the Dorico file, it is difficult to say what is going on. (Meanwhile you should be aware that providing the Dorico file is the fastest/easiest way for us to give helpful suggestions without guessing).

If you don’t want the multi-bar rest to appear, delete those bars.

Why does it appear?

Will deleting it not affect other subsequent flows?

If I need to omit a portion starting from the very beginning, do I also need to delete the preceding part?

Multi-bar rests appear if multi-bar rest consolidation is enabled in Layout Options, and if there is a sequence of one or more empty bars. You can delete those empty bars to remove the multi-bar rest.

Here is the information in the manual about how to delete bars:

dele.dorico (1.7 MB)

Is it better to delete the bars to omit the marked part, or to separate the flow and select it separately?

Thanks.

Just delete the bars. And please don’t start a new thread for the same issue you are already discussing in another thread.
