Hello, I have a score with Alto Sax 1 and 2 parts (on separate lines) that I have condensed. Here’s a screenshot of the part un-condensed (unison except for beat one where the Alto 2 is a downstem quarter note.
How do I show it split on bt. 1 so that Alto 2 is downstem and the Alto 1 is upstem with the slur above and the accent is above. Oh, and of course, I don’t want this to affect the individual parts. They should each look like the ones in the first example.
The current state of the condensing is Manual condensing with both Sax. 1 and 2 stems up.
You need to apply a condensing change either to reset the manual condensing (becoming automatic) or change it to first stems up / second stems down.
However I recommend to basically use automatic condensing.
Thank you; that is working but is there a way to just isolate those measures that I want to reset without it resetting (removing the manual condensing) from that point to the end? Every time I reset a specific measure (which fixes the initial beaming issue in that measure), it splits the parts into upstem/downstem to the end of the piece thus undoing the combined stems that I had previously set. I’d like not to have to go through the entire piece to reset…manual condense…reset…manual condense, etc. to the end.
Here’s a link where you can download the file. I have removed about half of the instruments. The issue is only with the Alto Saxophones 1 & 2 and the Clarinet 2, 3. Both are condensed parts. The individual measures where I need them split are: 40, 48, 56, 64.
I have already fixed my master score and made by going through the “reset” “manual condense” “reset” “manual condense” process in Condensing Change all the way through to the end. But if there’s a short cut for the next time or something I have set up incorrectly, I’d like to know. Where possible, the publisher wants notes to share a stem. So those measures in question are really the only places where we need to show a split on beat one.
