Stacking multiple tempo markings

I have a rather long tempo marking that extends past the bar:

Now on beat 1.5 I would like to add an accel. The accel ends up being placed after the long tempo marking, which really makes the bar quite large:

I had hoped that if I move the accel marking in engraver mode that the measure would compress back to normal, but that didn’t happen. I guess I can fake this out and use system text instead of a tempo marking and then add some hidden things to get playback to be what I want. Is there any way to handle this automatically that I am missing?

No, this is probably the best way. I would use a font like MusGlyphs to easily replicate the tempo mark.

I don’t think the tempo mark should include the title. Separate the VI Finale March, which would make the tempo short enough to allow space for the poco accel. Then drag things around in Engrave.
