Staff labels group

No, I want it to display as Troma in La I/II, but I can’t change it. It keeps showing up as that instrument. The one below displays correctly, though.

I did it the way you told me to.

General remark:

When you want to edit the name(s) of an instrument in this kind of context (with several players playing the same kind of instrument), don’t use Edit Names (which will edit only the name of this particular instrument), but use Edit instrument definition instead (it will edit all the same instruments at once).

Once in the Edit Instrument dialog, click Edit instrument names:

Then your changes will affect all the instruments (like Horn 1 and 2, or Clarinet 1 and 2, etc…)

Then it’s getting too complicated to guess what’s happening.

I suggest the following:

  • Save your project under another name to duplicate it.
  • Remove all the music
  • Upload this cutdown version here
  • Provide a screenshot of the original score you’re copying, which shows what you exactly want in terms of condensing/staff-labeling

Then I’m sure someone will be able to set it up for you quickly!

I’m trying to upload a file, but it says there’s no note, and it won’t upload because the file size is too large.

Try maybe to apply a Silence template:

Play Menu > Playback Templates > Silence > Apply and Close.

It could reduce the size of the file.

When using the Silence feature, does it stop playing the music that was playing before? Or does it just keep no note?

When one sets the Silence Playback Template, the file will be silent.

I want the ‘in Re’ removed and centered alignment.

Like this?

Cor (Re).dorico (1,5 Mo)

It was set to Always, I changed it to “Follow Layout Options”

Yes

How did you do it?

I edited my post to explain.

Thanks. @charles_piano @Vadian @Derrek
