Status Bar "Bar" indication doesn't indicate current bar at cursor?

I’m engraving a piece from an IMSLP PDF. I thought a good way to quickly engrave might be to add notes one part at a time when viewing a part, rather than editing on the full score. I am finding tacets do not make this easy.

The Status Bar “Bar” indicator does not update when moving bar to bar in Note Edit mode (after using cmd-arrow to advance to next bars). This makes it difficult to add notes in measures ‘beneath’ a tacet.

The Status Bar “Bar” indicator also does not indicate the bar at the current note, when highlighting notes, if moving onto/over rests. The “Bar” only seems to update when a note is highlighted.

I believe it should be easier to add/edit notes after moving the edit cursor “inside” a tacet, or perhaps tacets should temporarily disappear when in Note Edit mode when the cursor moves inside the tacet. I could temporarily disable tacets in the Layout for a part but that is an extra workaround step. Still, the Status bar should update to indicate the current bar at the cursor, I believe.

You can switch off multirests for each layout (Layout Options>Players>Bar rests…Multirests)

My workaround is to edit parts in Full Score view in Galley view with Instrument Filter for just those desired instruments. Sometimes the automatic scrolling in Galley view while adding notes is too jumpy or places the cursor just out of view, so it is less desirable in some ways.

The summary in the status bar only looks at the selection, not at the caret position. I’m not sure anybody’s requested that it should follow the caret before. I’ll think about it, and perhaps this is something we can add in future.
