Staves collide with each other in score

So I’m starting a new piece for Jazz ensemble - I selected letter size paper, landscape orientation, Palatino font, and Broadway text font. This is what I get:

What have I done wrong? Can I fix it or would it be better to start over, and as my Mom might have said, make better choices?

Try bigger paper, or decreasing your staff size - both of these are found in Layout Options (command-shift-L on Mac).

Page size change is a no go - that’s what I’ll be printing on. I did not see a place to adjust staff or stave size - perhaps I’m looking right past it.

In Layout Options, here:

Just checking: is your screenshot showing us page view or galley view?

I’m sure it’s page view. It’s just that that many staves won’t fit on the page at that size.

It’s rather impossible to get such a mess in galley view, unless you specifically ask for it, but you’ll need to tweak the setting (quite hard to find) in Layout options>Vertical spacing>Ideal spacing to a 10% percentage…

“Roger that,” thanks. (Just thought I’d be thorough.)

Galley view has no problems.

Nothing seems to really fix the issue, so I’m going to restart the project (since I’ve done virtually nothing on it so far.)

I have exactly the same problem. I’m importing an xml file into Dorico

The only way I can get it to look right is to go into layout options and reset to factory settings

Interesting. Mine was a brand new doc. Hope this isn’t a developing glitch of some sort.

Was able to fix this using Layout Options/Page Setup/Rastral Size/Size 8

Apart from changing the flow from never which is the only change I made. It changes the rastral back to size 3. That is the only difference I can make out, yet if you change the rastral size to 3 manually it makes very little difference.
I have a lot of Finale templates for different size bands which I was hoping to import through xml so far this seems the only glitch but once they’re imported, reset and saved they are workable.

Rastral size 8 doesn’t work for me I’ve tried all the different sizes and settings.

In this case the question is: why are there four systems on that page?

That’s why I recreated all my templates from scratch in Dorico to ensure not to inherit some surprises.

This is what I get after “reset to factory” then apply rastral size 8

I now looks more or less how it should, but I can’t understand setting to factory can make such a difference? It works so I’m ok with that.

Rastral size 3 worked okay for me, but it seems more convoluted a process then it would need to be. I have been super pleased with the way Dorico handles a lot of things that were a challenge in Finale, so this is odd.
