Steel Pan rolls and key switching (for the Andy Narell Steel Pan collection)

Is it possible to map the symbol for rolls (in the tremolo section of repeats) to a Playback Technique triggering a key switch? This seems the right approach to playback for steel drum sample sets which have separate samples for rolls.

It seems that the Andy Narell steel pan sample set does indeed have this feature

I can see that for a drum kit, you can accomplish this under “edit percussion playback techniques” under “edit percussion kit”, but I don’t see how to do this for pitched percussion.

I don’t think that solve the problem of mapping the roll symbol to the Playing Technique. As I understand it, expression maps translate named Playing Techniques to midi actions or modifications. Am I wrong?

An unmeasured tremolo on pitched percussion will trigger the “tremolo” playback technique, so I think you just need to map that to your roll sample in your expression map.
