Steinberg and ProTools?

I’ve just seen the updated Pro Tools lists, and i am surprised to see the following additions to the Pro Tools offering!
Spectral layers Go
Wavelab Go
Cubase & Nuendo mapped titles
I wonder if Avid and Steinberg are getting closer and how this will affect Cubase development?
Any thoughts anyone?

Well Avid doesn’t make their own 2 track editor, and they don’t have spectral processing either. Why waste the resources developing it in house when you can just license the apps from someone who already did the work…

I mean every app and its mother used to come with Acrobat reader so you could read the manuals, didn’t mean anyone was getting ‘closer’ to Adobe by it.

Thanks for clearing that up for me.

What does that mean?

From the release notes of the latest version of WaveLab:

WaveLab Pro 12.0.40 now also supports the AAX format and can be used as an ARA extension in Pro Tools 2024.10.

When the Avid guy, who presented the news, said “our new friends from Steinberg” he had to giggle himself.
