Steinberg Download Assistant login keychain password

11.0.30 is the second time I tried to use the recommended Steinberg Download Assistant unsuccessfully on my iMac running Catalina. I ran it, updated it, and ran it again. I get prompted that the Assistant wants to use my confidential information stored in “Steinberg Download Assistant” in my keychain. Then "To allow this, enter the “login” keychain password.
I tried entering the password I use to access my Steinberg account on the web site (which works fine there) but it doesn’t like. And tbh I really have no idea what exactly this prompt is referring to. I don’t have anything in my emails that directly refer to this. So I just downloaded the .pkg file directly from the Support website and installed it from that.
Can anyone clear up the confusion or does the Assistant simply not work? TIA.

Hi,

My expectation is, the system asks you for the system password, to be able to write the data to the keychain.

I tried that as well with no luck.

How do I find my keychain password on Mac?

Forgot your Keychain Password

  1. Click on Finder > Go > Utilities > Keychain Access . …
  2. From the Keychain Access menu, select Preferences. …
  3. Click Reset My Default Keychain . …
  4. In the Password field, enter your Active Directory (AD) password (what you log into the computer with).
