Is anyone else having this trouble? I updated to the latest SDA (1.39.3) and I can’t get any downloads to work. I get an error dialog instantly upon clicking any Install button. I’m on a 2021 M1 Macbook Pro, MacOS 26.2. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I’ve read similar problems with some users which used a VPN. If so, try to switch it off during the download.
But of course it could be a temporary problem with Steinberg’s servers too ![]()
I can see where a VPN could be problematic. I’m not using one, and I don’t think it’s a problem with Steinberg’s servers since SDA works fine on my M2 Mac Studio. I’m a bit perplexed why it wouldn’t work on my M1 Macbook, but fortunately the Mac Studio is my primary Dorico computer so it’s not really that big a deal. Still, it would be nice if it worked on the Macbook. Perhaps a future version of SDA will fix whatever is wrong.
All the Dorico packages are also available for normal download via our Steinberg site.
What if you use this download link to grab Etude Elements from our server, does that work?
Hi, Ulf! Thanks for the response. Yes, I was able to directly download Etude Elements and the other updated instruments. The only thing I’m not sure about is the sound content. When I download those, I get a .iso file, which, when I open it, just contains the sound files with no installer. Do I use the Library Manager to move those sound files into place?
Yes, the Library Manager does that for you. So you just need to double click on one of the vstsound files and that will invoke the Library Manager and that one then copies the files into the right place. So for each iso file, double click one vstsound and you should be done.
Excellent, Ulf. Thank you very much!
Looks like I need a little more help, Ulf. I successfully registered the Etude Elements sound files by double clicking on one of the sound files and clicking OK in the Steinberg Library Manager. However, when I launch Dorico, it still gives me a dialog saying that Etude Elements is not installed and to please install it with the Download Assistant.
I tried re-registering the Etude Element sounds, but the Steinberg Library Manager tells me that no action was taken because the sound files are already installed.
Is there a step I’m missing somewhere? Thanks for your help!
Never mind, Ulf. I reinstalled HALion Sonic 7.1.40 from the direct download link and the dialog warning about the missing Etude Elements no longer appears when I launch Dorico. So I think I’m good to go now. Thanks again!
