Steinberg download assistant unable to connect with download manager

Hello,
I bought cubase artist. I installed steinberg download assistant, everything went great, but I accidentally installed cubase pro TRIAL. After noticing I deleted all the installed things to start over again, wanting to download Artist.

I begin with downloading SDA, agree, install, etc etc, but when I sign in, I get the error: unable to connect with download manager.
(This did not occur when I accidentally downloaded the Pro Trial)

I uninstalled SDA, installed it again, checked the latest version of SDA, put down a part of the windows security, checked for ‘aria’ in hard drive, made the folder Install Assistant manually, restarted laptop, checked for updates…

Still not working.
Please somebody help, me crying rn

Can I have response from someone! I’m stuck

Do you have the latest SDA installed? Are there any firewalls or virus scanners that might block it and do you use a VPN by chance?

Hello Juergen,

YES I’ve latest SDA. I tried bypassing ALL firewalls, virus scanners but in vein.

Missed to mention I DO NOT use VPN

Hi all, I have the same issue with my setup. I do not use VPN and am currently using TRIAL version of CUBASE PRO 14 however I do actually have a full LICENCE purchased for XMAS 24 so i might do following…
Strip out everything and clean up with CC Cleaner or something similar.
Then start again from scratch. I say this becuase someone mentioned they didnt have the issue until they had used a TRIAL version on top of their Artist install.
Let me know if you get any luck :)>

The trial software is identical to the licensed software, no difference at all. What you need to do is just enter your Download Access Code and after that look in the Activation Manager for your purchased license and activate it.

Maybe this will help?

Johnny thanks for this I will give it a try and report my findings, you are very kind.

Ah ok understood, thanks.

Yes unfortunatley it didnt make any difference and i get a failure to connect.

There was another change for the Download Assistant some weeks ago and it had to be updated until 17th December. All earlier releases will not be able to connect, so did you install the new SDA in the last one or two weeks.

It has to be version 1.36.4 or later.

Hi Yes just re-installed again in fact I shall try again though to make sure

Yes so it was 1.36.4 I re-installed today, and also tried the german forum fix with that. I still get following report

I am not using a VPN, and my corperate IT has even allowed the application to run as admin too

Installing or even running as admin is never advised, that might cause more trouble than help.

What you can try is to disable IPv6 protocol on the network adapter in your machine. There are networks where the use of IPv6 is causing connection problems, so this could help if you do that temporarily.

There is also a support document about this.

Ok all points taken and set, still no luck. Someone mentioned changing speed of Memory to 6000hz - not sure I want to play with BIOS really to solve this.

Yeah, I’ve seen that as well, but I strongly doubt that the memory speed has any effect on network connections. That would be really very strange.

If it is still not working I have no direct idea at the moment, you probably need to open a support ticket. There are log files for the SDA, but that is something the support needs to get and read.

What ‘corporate IT’ are you referring to? Where are you trying to get this to work?
