I recently bought Cubase 12 after using the trial version, and now am wondering about all the content resources on the Download Assistant.
How do I know which content I can download and use as part of the Cubase package without having to pay.?
There is a menu on the left. One of them is named something like my programs. Sorry I’m not in front of my computer but it is an item related to what you own. Click on that and everything is then what you can download and is part of your licence.
Conceptually this should work, but with the rollout of the Download Assistant & Activation Manager the My Products Download section doesn’t always show everything that you actually own. So you might need to look in the other sections if My Products is missing a product you own.
Under any circumstance once you select a product in the left pane, then everything in the right pane is legit for you to download and use. Stuff marked “(optional)” means Cubase (or whatever) will function properly if you don’t download that content, it just won’t have the content.
In the screenshots below you can see how Cubase Artist comes with more content than Cubase AI.
Hi Raino
Thanks, how you put it is how I expected it to work however, I was able to download HALion 7 plus 32 G content, then after about 2 hours of downloading… nothing registered in Cubase… then after scraching around a bit, I discovered the eLicenser and a somewhat cryptic activation activation code procedure, only to find that the download was a waste of time, and I needed €499 to get a HALion 7 activation code.
Thank you
The naming conventions are a bit confusing. The free version of HALion that comes with Steinberg is called HALion Sonic (7), sounds like you got the full version of HALion 7 (Non sonic).
You’ll need to go in via the Steinberg Library Manager and remove those libraries if you don’t get the option to remove them when starting Cubase. I’m not entirely sure which content you download for HALion sonic 7 though - but if you stick to everything that’s listed under your Cubase product will be correct.
HALion Sonic SE 3 was the version that came with Cubase before they upgraded everything to line-up as version 7 - so that’s why you’ll still see the content from that version available, it all works with 7.
Thx - Yes it is confusing. I don’t really know what to do. I opened up the Steinberg Library Manager to find multiple HALion Products and dont know which to remove and what can stay.
At the moment HALion SE is grayed out in Cubase.
The following is a list of various modules listed.
Which ones do you think I should REMOVE from the list.
HALion 4 Factory Cintent
HALion Sonic 2 Combis
HALion Sonic 3 Combis
HALion Sonic Factory Content
HALion Sonic SE Artist
HALion Sonic SE Basic
HALion Sonic SE Hybrid
HALion Sonic SE Pro
HALiontron
There are also a few other sound modules like Raven Skylab Studio strings Trium Voltage, plus others. Under the HALION sub directory.
Should I Remove these too?
It looks like I got into a bit of a mess,
Thank you for the help.
Kind Regards
Patrick Clemmond
Anything with Sonic in the name is good, the others aren’t. i.e. skylab, raven, trium, voltage etc. The only synth that comes with Sonic/SE is flux I think - and that’ll be part of the Sonic SE sets.
Before HALion 7 I had a copy of only the Groove Agent SE and HALion SE content on my backup drive, and it’s contents are:
HALion Sonic SE

I don’t know if that helps or not, but you can open up the details button in Steinberg Library Manager and check which libraries contain those files perhaps?
Thanks! I’ll look into it.
Thank you, I had a look and discovered not all the instruments that should be there are present. That’s exactly what I needed to know. Thx. I’m consisiring an Uninstall / re-install action, I did not Uninstall trial version when installing the bought version.
Any advice will be valued
One thing to keep in mind is that the ability to download Steinberg products is independent of it being licensed. Anybody can download whatever they like, you just can’t use it without a license. Folks sometimes think that they can resolve a licensing issue by re-downloading the item(s). But that’s generally a waste of time (literally & bandwidth too) unless the problem is a corrupted file - which typically wouldn’t look like a license problem.
Thank you for the clarification. I’m kind of like Alice in wonderland at the moment, I do see a small glimmer of light at the end of a tunnel though.
Blessings
