So, I had to reinstall the virtual instruments and libraries because when I moved the files from my laptop to my SSD I got an error message to redownload the sounds. I got HALion Sonic - Instrument installed. However, according to the Steinberg Library Manager there are no libraries downloaded. I also went to the location of the HALion Sonic files, double clicked on each one individually, but I’m getting an error as well. What am I doing wrong now? Dorico and I aren’t jiving right now lol. Thanks yet again for the help!
You’ve installed the sounds in the download area. That’s a bad idea.
Please make the library default location empty (empty string) and then it will use the default location. Once the sounds are in the default location, you can move them out to an external drive by help of the Library Manager.
I do see what you mean by the sounds going to the downloads area for some reason. Thanks for catching that! I also just looked at the path in the Download Assistant and somehow that’s directed to the downloads folder as well. What should the correct path be on Windows?
In both the Download Assistant and the Library Manager, make the path an empty string, then the default path will be used.
So, empty the path field and reinstall the sounds? I just want to make sure I don’t mess anything up!

So, the Download Assistant isn’t allowing me to clear the path.

right, things have developed in the Download Assistant. But in the Settings page there is now the button Reset to default. It will default to your usual downloads directory. But that is only the the path for the to be downloaded packages, not the install location. In the Library Manager you can still specify an empty string and that will default then the sound library install location to C:/ProgramData/Steinberg/Content on Win or MacinthoshHD/Library/Application Support/Steinberg/Content on Mac.
So please let the Library Manager install to that default location and then you can move them to any location you like using the Library Manager’s Move button on the right side of each sound library. The trick here is, it will really move the data to your specified location, but at the same time put a symbolic link to the moved files into the originating location. Such symbolic links are tiny compared to the real files. The advantage of this mechanism then is, that Dorico/HALion Sonic/GrooveAgent can always refer to the original default installation paths and by means of the symbolic links get automatically redirected to the real data.
So, I did that, but nothing still appears in the library manager.
