Steinberg Licence Engine is not responding?

Activation manager; the same problems what is written above.

About Cubase freeze;
when I have started my computer and open Cubase, it loads everything and at the welcome screen - which file you want to open - Cubase freeze completely. Then I close cubase.exe with taskmanager. When I open cubase the 2nd time it works (usually) sometimes I need 3 times.

Cubase 12.0.52.393 64bit 2023.1.7 18.42.22.625-freezedump.dmp (740.1 KB)

The problem might be with your audio device, I guess it is a MOTU device, which seems to not respond.

If it is a MOTU using ASIO, have you tried drivers like ASIO4ALL or FlexASIO instead?

Thanks Juergen. Yes i have the Motu ultralight 5. I will try an other Asio driver …

Hi @Frank_Mac - sorry to hear you’re having issues. Could you PM a zip of the files from %APPDATA%\Steinberg\Activation Manager (on Windows) or /Users/youruser/Library/Application Support/Steinberg/Activation Manager (on macOS and we’ll investigate.

@JuergenP Are you saying the timestamp errors show that the daw cannot communicate with the device?

No, this Screenshot was just for verifying my assumption about the used audio device.

Update. i have …

  • Removed GA5, GAOne, Halion, all HalionSonic versions, Hypnotic Dance, Triebwerk, Neon Drifts, UH-e Podolski + all GrooveAgent related files.

-Re-installed Cubase 12 and it default Content

  • Checked ECC - runs fine

Cubase STILL won’t run, it disappears at the Initialisation stage

What hardware and what operating system do you have?

In case it is a Windows system, can you please provide any dumpfile you might have?

Which dump file is useful ?
The cubase crashlog folder does not have a recent file relating to this. Last file 19 Dec ‘22
Cheers

I wonder if a Windows update may be the cause

Cubase has LAUNCHED!!!
Retrologue.vst3 was the issue. NOT any 3rd party VSTs.
I’ll try ReInstall of Retrlogue to see if i can restore it.
thanks to Juergen

Glad to hear it works, but I just gave the hint to log and dumps. You found the real cause yourself

Do you guys have a permanent solution for this issue right here? or any alternatives ? I have not been able to work the last few days due to this issue. Also the support team is unreachable via email. Third times this happens. I have tried everything on all other forums in this page regarding this problem. Nothing seems to work. Please Help.

Welcome to the forum

Sorry, don’t know what that means, or what tasks it includes

Generic solutions:

  • Restart your computer.

  • Run the Steinberg Download Asst and allow it to update the software it needs to update.

If you’re an advanced user

  • manually kill the processes involved

If you want more info, post relevant info about your system.

what do they have to be setup at ?

Screenshot 2023-05-13 at 14.27.57

These are my mac specs

macOS Monterey
Version 12.5
MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2019)
Processor 2,3 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9
Memory 16 GB 2400 MHz DDR4
Startup Disk Macintosh HD
Graphics Radeon Pro 560X 4 GB

The restarting and update was the first thing I tried, several times.
What info do you need about the system im running?

That’s the info.

I don’t have a solution, I’m on Windows, so can’t experiment with the issue.

But, there’s a topic with replies from SB staff at Steinberg Licence Engine is not responding? - #25 by Ben_at_Steinberg discusses this. I can merge this topic with that one, shall I do so? Presumably the subscribers to that topic will see your posts.

I would appreciate that. Anything to get this thing working again.
