Steinberg plugins, peaks, signal flow ... 2.4dB difference in peak between them

Hi there,

I was adapting the loudness of different audio files, and to check that there’s no clipping I sent them all through Steinberg Maximizer and Steinberg Brickwall limiter on the Stereo Out buss.

The files were mostly mastered and hard limited to 0.0dB before I started adapting the loudness and I wanted to keep them loud.

So peak input on the Maximizer is 0.0dB, and output is -0.1dB

But then the Brickwall Limiter in the next insert slot shows +2.4dB input peak
and I don’t understand that at all.

How does this happen?

Can anyone explain? Or is it simply that these plugins are incorrect …

thanx!

Maybe one plugin shows sample peak while the other shows True Peak?

right, I never thought of that, thank you!
