Steinberg update info on announced quick fix

It was helpful that someone from Steinberg announced a first quickfix, when all the issues of the Spectrakayers 12 first release became known. If I remember right, the quickfix was targeted for roughly 2-3 weeks after release.

For users facing the many issues with SL12 it would be helpful to get an update on the targeted time frame for the first quickfix - among others to decide if a complete return to SL 11 is required for everyday use or the already paid SL12 could become more useable soon.

Against the background of one of the worst initial launches of a new version I have lately seen from Steinberg, as paying customer I would expect some transparent communication after 3 weeks of numerous issue feedback messages here and elsewhere.

So Steinberg: I really would appreciate an update on the state of things.

Here comes a guess: Steinberg will sell Spectral Layers, because it has become a burden, because the expectations of the customers have become too high for their abilities to fullfill.
How to explain the silence otherwise?

… just a guess

Another wild speculation without any clear facts.

Simply because they are working on it and do not have the time to explain every tiny step to forum users every time a posting shows up here.

That’s what happens in situations like these.
And btw, how do YOU know, that they are working on it?

What situation?

Simply because that is what Software developers do…

It’s no good getting angry and impatiently attacking each other, overcomplicating things, and arguing for authority.

We need to be patient, although I would also appreciate an interim report with an estimate of a possible release date for a “quick fix.”

Be nice, the rest just causes trouble.

awesome sauce!

that said, I did vent about the SDA this past weekend and @JuergenP and I had a little back and forth…I have calmed down now

I greatly appreciate all of you testing SL12 and reporting back; I look forward to getting it soon

This topic has not been solved at all.

It will not be solved until my original question has been answered by someone from Steinberg, and I am not responsible for offtopic posts, rants and speculations.

While I can understand your disappointment with all the issues of this release (I am disappointed too) - I’d really like you to stop writing wild gossip here on the forum.

Neither your fantasies about Steinberg using AI to write the code ( you clearly have never done any extensive coding) nor now this fantasy about Steinberg selling SpectraLayers…
Steinberg is the distributor not the owner. Robin is the owner and main coder.

So Robin is probably the person best suited to give us an update on the state of things.

It would be unwise to release a fix before it’s ready which is why we haven’t seen it yet. Someone with more know how than any of us is on it so yeah, patience is the order of the day. Reverting to 11 is a solid plan if you can’t get acceptable results with 12. Failure can be the pathway to success when learning takes place and this tech is still in it’s infancy. I’m sure we’ll see more failure and greater success with SLP moving forward and I’m really pumped about the as of yet unrealized tools we’ll have to work with down the road.

Robin pretty much always releases patches on a wed or thurs

after reading the notes it looks like he was very busy

Folks, if you’ll be patient and refrain from needling Robin so much, he might just be in a better headspace to put even more into SL…yet, if he kindly comes on the forum as he usually does, he just won’t have time to work on SL and field all your gripes. As it stands, he probably needs to stay away in order to crack on with SL work.

@Robin_Lobel , thanks for this incredible software, it has been an absolute game-changer in my audio editing, I’m really looking forward to update to SL12 =-D

? What’s SLP?
ah…duh, SL Pro

It is great that the update was fast enough to render any info update unneccessary.

Anyways: posting a basic short info posted in cases of delayed announced fixes (which was not the case here) would never prevent Robin from doing his main task. And nobody expects him to “hang around” in this forum beyond that, during phases of intensive development.

P.S.
Checked the update - among others now works great with my AMD GPU. It took just 5 minutes to unmix a crowded 6m mix with all instrument/drums categories: that is now very well useable!

Also had to do the update manually after Steinberg download assistant failed with install, but that doesn’t really bother me.

Thanks for the fast quick fix: this saves me from having to go back to 11 completely!

Hanging around this forum and interacting with forum members is what I’ve known Robin to do over this past year…seldom do users get such wonderful access to the dev…thanks Robin

Yes, but as you mentioned yourself, hanging around here can’t be expected during intense phases of development. What still can be expected, are info updates in cases of unforseen delays of announced fixes. That’s all.
