Hi, I just updated to Dorico 6 (great program and awesome staff/developers by the way) the update though seemed confusing, I eventually got it to work, but had to pretend to forget my password and reset it because the passwords used before did not work and it was about to lock me out. There are 2 different sign ins? Why would that be? I am beginning to understand the structure of the authorization/website but maybe as a suggestion it could be helpful if there was an “overview” video somewhere really obvious - like right by where you download or buy - demonstrating the process and explaining why there is a need for 2 different sign-ins and, how they work together and which does what along with an overview of where you are in the website during the process? I’ve been in this music software world since the late 80’s but I still seem to always find Steinberg’s site and sign in/authorization confusing? Thanks for considering this!
Additional information here: I see that when I downloaded the trial version of Dorcio 6, I received an email with a video called “Download and Install Dorico | Tutorial” (saw it after though). Would it make sense to have this video or something like it on a link/button by the download or buy button? Still confused as I still seem to have 2 areas to sign in on? Thank you!
No, there is one single login to your mySteinberg profile.
There was a second login to the old online shop from Asknet, but Steinberg changed the shop to Fastspring several years ago. Since then there is no second login.
All you need to do now is to login via the Download Assistant and the Activation Manager, using your current mySteinberg password and that will allow you to manage your licenses.
Sorry to hear that you found this confusing, Mike. As Juergen says, you really should have only one sign-in these days. Perhaps you have multiple Steinberg ID accounts? If you’d like me to look into it, please send me a private message including the two email addresses you find you have to use, and I can see if I can figure out what might be going on.
Thank you for that explanation, I really appreciate it.
