Steinberg UR816C Discontinued

I reached out to Steinberg and wanted to clarify if the UR816C is no longer available and if it was discontinued. I received a response and they indicated it was discontinued. Does anyone know if there will be any replacements or new units being developed?

The UR816C is still available. At least some dealers still sell it at the moment.

If you have contact with Steinberg, you could ask them.
We, the users, wouldn’t know that.

It should be discontinued… I just swapped out my UR 824 for one and went immediately back… I’m possibly missing something simple in the setup but the noise out of that thing is terrible!

I own one for 5 years now, no noise…

I think Steinberg products are great when they work so I’m pleased for you there.
Mine? I’ll either try it again on another device or maybe slave it to another interface and just use the I/O.

Maybe there is something wrong in the DSPmix software Setup.
What kind of noise are you hearing and at what point are you hearing it.

To be fair… I was hasty to judge it, the ā€˜main’ output threw me and I ignored it, not realising how it’s set up to attenuate, if that makes sense?

There is some static constantly present on in 6, which I can explain but I am not good at the ā€˜setting up’ and rather better with the ā€˜using’ and (again to my shame) I am now using the manual

I think I’m going to take it back… it shouldn’t be discontinued. Sorry.

No noise for me as well. Its unfortunate the Steinberg discontinued it.

The 816C is definitely growing on me. I have the noise to what I would deem ā€˜normal low ground’ noise… something I can fix but am too lazy and I don’t hear it at the sound levels I work.
Tape in, synth in, 4 open ins on the front, Yamahas out, Mixcubes out, to tape out and a ramp out… working and very pleased.

Thanks for your initial post which made me revisit the interface.

Damn, I only just bought mine, but it failed within warranty (2 months to go). I wonder what they’ll replace it with?

Nobody from Steinberg confirmed that it is discontinued.
It is still available.

Has this information been documented somewhere official? The retailer where I purchased mine say they have not received any communication from Steinberg that the UR816C is being discontinued.

It’s still in stock at the dealers here in Germany.

It’s not available anywhere near where I am. Online places say ā€œout of stockā€, meanwhile it remains on Steinberg site.

TBH, my post was in December 2024.

As of July 10 2025, I can’t find the unit anywhere. Every website that used to have it listed now says it’s ā€œout of stockā€ (I’m in Europe). Even Thomann. Only one retailer in my area makes the exception but it’s the last unit they have. This strongly suggest that the Steinberg UR816C is indeed discontinued. Either they will announce something new soon or I don’t really don’t know. It’s a pity because I’ve been having on my wishlist for a while only to find out it’s discontinued. Powerful piece of gear, even better than the Scarlett 18i20 that everyone wants you to buy.

If you check other gear, a lot more chinese made stuff is out of stock at this moment , but many of them will be delivered again in a couple of months.

No. It just indicates it is out of stock.
If it were end of life (discontinued), Steinberg will announce that.

Err…I did this same check 6 months AND 12 months ago and, apart from a few shops around the world who had single copies, often bundled with C12.. It’s been like this for a while. Making do with the UR44C and some occasional input flipping..
