Stem to the left

Hi! Does anyone have an idea how to move the upper stem (quarter note) to the left between f# and g#? Thanks for your help!

That would make it very ambiguous to a player. What you have is clear. [My composer colleague always wants too do stuff exactly like that, so I do understand.]

If these are in opposing stems, then I would actually want a bit of breathing space between the E and the other notes.

There is an Engraving Option for space between opposing voices, under Notes > Voices.

Thanks but this is not what I need. All three notes should be quarter notes, not just the e.

…which makes the cross staff beam meaningless/confusing!

Will this do? Hidden eight-note notehead and note spacing change in Engrave mode,

If that is so the cross staff beaming and associated stem is incorrect notation, simply put.

Indeed.

Thanks a lot Jesper! Thats the solution!

Why is it in your opinion incorrect? The task is easy: upper voice is held for 1 quarter while the second voice (cross staff beaming) indicates the duration of 1 eighth beiing followed by 2 16ths….

You said “all three notes should be quarter notes”, which confused everyone, as there is only one quarter note here.

It’s not clear from that image which notes are quarter notes and which are 8th notes.

In my try, they are all quarter notes, except the hidden eigth note..

Thank you again for the solutions, and I apologize if I wasn’t clear. @jesele gave the answer to my problem, and here is the result!
Best wishes to everyone! M.

It’s very difficult to tell which note is the quarter. I would assume the G#.

Apparently someone is allergic to eighth rests.
