Hy,
I am working on Mac, Monterey, Cubase 12.0.70.
I made a little script for Kontakt which triggers some notes with buttons. I routed the output of this instrument track to the input of another instrument track. Both tracks are rec enabled and when I press a button in Kontakt I can hear the correct note in the other instrument track. So far so good. But if I want to to do a step recording it does not work. Is step recording only possible on the selected track with a midi keyboard? Or is there maybe a workaround?
Thanks a lot
Kind Regards
Hi,
Could you try to set the MIDI Input to All MIDI Inputs on the other track, please? (Just guessing/trying out.)
Hy Martin,
changing to All MIDI Inputs does not help. If I do this then I do not hear anything.
Hi,
Of course, I’m stupid… The Instrument output cannot be routed to the All MIDI Inputs.
But I’m afraid the Step Input is actually using the All MIDI Inputs. For example for the use case, of you want to input data from the on-screen keyboard. That would also explain, why it doesn’t work for the virtual MIDI port.
Thanks for your time and help. Maybe there is a workaround.
Hi,
The only one I can come to is to use a virtual MIDI cable software to send the data out from Cubase and then back.
Which software can I use for Mac? Loopmidi is windows only.
Hi,
You can use the IAC Driver, as described here.
