Step record hold mode

On my mv-8000 the step input has a button to ‘extend’ the current input note(s) for what you want. Really simple, same as cubase left/right for the input marker then you press the key on your controller for the set input length. Very handy to compose more melodic melodies.
If you could just do this in Cubase (simple)

  1. press and hold midi controller in step record mode
  2. move input locator (left/right) to either extend

This capability would be quite welcome, but I would much prefer to not have control split between the MIDI controller and computer keyboard. You could instead, for example, have an option whereby an on/off sequence from the CC64 (sustain) controller would direct the step recorder to extend the currently pressed notes one additional unit and advance the position accordingly.
