i want to connect a hardware stereo compressor to my steinberg ur816c interface i go from 7/8 steinberg output to the input compressor and output the compressor to 3/4 inputs steinberg ur816c
and use this as external effect in ableton 12
but i keep getting feedback on this connection so i cant use the compressor
it is not due to the compressor that has been tested;
i dont know how to solve this
i use this as external effect in ableton
i have installed the mixer of steinberg outputs and inputs but i really cant find the solution there
do you know how this can be done
Could it be possible that you have enabled output mixes in the past?
You need to use the dspMixFx software to control the routing inside the interface.
It has an integrated DSP mixer.
Be sure to set all faders of those compressor-channels to ZERO in the dspmix software.
I use my 816 only for outboard gear, nothing else, so all my faders are at zero to avoid feedback. You don’t need the channel-faders for this purpose.
Can you tell me more about how to do it correctly because I still get that feedback
so I go from 7/8 steinberg output to input compressor and then output to input 3/4 steinberg
possibly a photo of how you do it
maby thanks
F.e. I have a compressor with its inputs are on 5/6 of the URC. ITs outputs are also on 5/6 inputs on the URC. THe signal that’s going into the compressor comes within CUbase from the DAW direct 5/6 . IN the dspmixsoftware ALL faders are on the bottom ( I said this wrong in my previous post, sorry), so NO SIGNAL is heard in the dspmixsoftware. Otherwise that causes the feedback.
