I’m trying to install Dorico, but I can’t get as far as opening the download assistant in order to download it. As soon as it gets as far as the application name appearing in the menu bar, the whole thing quits every time without getting any further. I have reinstalled the download assistant, but this has made no difference. I’ve attached the console logs in case they provide any helpful information.

Please use Firefox as your web browser and be sure to select “save”. Since it is a rather large file, please make sure your computer is not in a power saving mode such as “sleep mode” during the download.
I’m having what looks like the same problem as markporter, except in my case it’s when trying to install the trial version from the email that went out yesterday.
When I launch the Steinberg Download Assistant, it appears in the dock for about a second, then quits with no error message.
I’m running the Steinberg Download Assistant version 1.4.6 on macOS Sierra version 10.12.1.

You should be able to find a crash log in ~/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports, which if you zip up and send to me, I will pass on to the team and we’ll see if we can figure out what’s going wrong.
No crash log in DiagnosticReports, as it didn’t seem to suffer an OS-level crash and bring up the macOS crash report dialog.
I did, however, have a look at the files the process was accessing and saw that it was opening a font in my ~/Library/Fonts folder called 2F0ADB_0_0.ttf. I removed this font file, and after that the Download Manager launched successfully!
I can send this font file over if it’ll help diagnose the problem – maybe it’s malformed in some way.
Yes, it would be interesting to see it just in case. Well done for figuring out what was stopping it from launching!
I’ve been watching the Dorico launch story for several weeks, and had come to the intention of buying the download in the next 24 hours. But I think I’m going to hold off till it’s clear the teething problems of download and install are definitively over.

You should do what you are comfortable with, but considering the number of people who have downloaded Dorico, the number who have had problems seems pretty small.
I am experiencing the same problem. Any chance there’s a direct link to the Mac download? The Steinberg Download Assistant is pretty bad, boys an girls. I was hoping that, with the last post being two weeks old, someone would have figured this out. Nope.
Double-click on Download Assistant, It comes up, then closes. There is no crash log—technically, it doesn’t crash, just closes.
OS 10.12.2 (did the same thing on 10.12.1)
I do not have 2F0ADB_0_0.ttf font installed, however.

I performed a Safe Boot (hold the Shift key on startup, log in, then shut down and boot normally) to reset paths and defaults.
I also ran the uninstaller, downloaded it again and reinstalled. None of this made any difference.
I would like to try and possibly Dorico but, if I can’t download, that will not happen.
You seem to have overlooked that the OP, like I is on a Mac, not Windows. His attached Console Log is nearly identical to mine.
A direct link to the Macintosh download would be most welcome right now. That way it doesn’t matter to us if you fix the Download Assistant or not.
