@MarcLarcher Ah, thanks! I went back after thinking this is what I did and then noticed I’ve only manualy managed to select one out of every paired couple of instruments. I think it had something to do with the stave from which I accessed the window. Anyways, I selected every instrument one by one at first. This time I clicked on the “hide all” option and then just deselected the solo vln. Voìla!
Happy with how things look for the time being. Just need to think what to do with bar numbers. Thanks for everyone’s help.
ps. and add the necessary fermatas that don’t play back over the rests, which I know to do through custom creating a playback technique

I may be totally out of my depth here, but if the issue is primarily with the full score and one plans to use a separate flow for parts, could splitting the measure at the page break with a hidden bar line and a new, hidden time signature on the following page work?
Yes indeed, that’s why I would not insert a too long time signature as I have here.
Actually @Christo_van_Rensburg found that entering whole notes hidden solves the hidden rests altogether and it’s really fast, so I would keep this workaround.
