Hello to everyone. I am really interesting to hear your thoughts about Cubase 13 stock Fxs plugins. About their quality. And it’s really interesting is it possible to mixing with a stock plugins and have the results the same as mixing with UAD, Softube etc…
Thanks
There are so many great plugins in Cubase. And it is usually the case that you can choose from a selection of plugins. For example, Reverence is incredible, but so is Roomworks. I tend to use Reverence as an overall reverb, but I use Roomworks on drums (specifically plate on snare). I think there’s a more recent reverb that I haven’t mentioned!
The point is, using the stock plugins is not going to hold you back with Cubase. Maybe when you have a superb mix using just Cubase plugins, you can explore the paid competition, and hear whether the difference is worth the money.
Yeah. Roomworks is really good!
Hello, they are globally outstanding. That said, I also own third party plugins because some manufacturers propose new ideas, new options or new concepts that can be interesting. For example, Waves has a plugin called Torque, that allows you to change the pitch of your drums according to the key of your track. And also plugins that can simulate a studio room for your particular model of headphones. But many plugins that you can buy are redundant if you own Cubase Pro.
Yeah. I have not so much third-party plugins. But some of them are unique for me. Like Soundtoys bundle or Soothe 2…
I am also got some of U-HE stuff, Wavesfactory, Full Fabfilter bundle, some of NI plugins… and of course Valhalla
I discovered a project from a few years ago that I have no memory of doing. I played the MP3 in the folder, and still no memory of it. I opened it and it had been finished using just the Cubase 11 mixer channel strips. I couldn’t tell. Make of that what you will.
It’s my considered opinion that it doesn’t matter what you use, because you’ll just set it up to sound the way you want it. So every compressor sounds much the same, as does every EQ.
Cubase is weak in the echo dept. I use Satin and Valhalla delay.
In a mix, no one will be able to tell which reverb you used.
End of early hours rambling.
You are right. Nobody can tell which delay or reverb you used… and at this moment I think that I stopped to invest money to the third party plugins… just for the updates probably… and maybe one two plugins on the Black Friday…
And of course stock plugins are really nice…
BTW. What about compressors? Do you use the stock compressors for your work?
Sure. I use the simple Compressor a lot. Mainly as a first compressor on a channel to tame some peaks. Obviously then in peak mode.
I surely would if I had to - no doubt. But I´m a bit picky when it comes to compressors. Nothing wrong with most of the stock compressors, though.
All very good. I use stock plugins and Arturia FX suite. Everything I need.
Thanks to everyone!
