Strange behaviour on switch between engrave and write mode

I am in the middle of transcribing a piece by the late great light music composer, conductor and saviour of the BBC light music archive, Ernest Tomlinson - trying to follow his manuscript exactly.

I have come across a passage where he encloses the word molto within the decrescendo symbol which I would like to reproduce.

I can achieve this in engrave mode

But when I switch back to write mode the change has not taken place!

Any Pointers to what is happening would be gratefully received.

you’re here in Galley View. If you switch to Page View, you’ll see it’s correct.

Note that you can do that maybe more easily (i.e. not by adding a text and move it), by entering a prefix and set the modifier position to “Inside” (possible to set it as default in Engraving Options:

How are you adding the molto? It looks like staff text, but you can also add it as a prefix or suffix of the hairpin in the properties panel. The placement can then be set in Engraving options.

You created the molto as Text and moved it in Engrave Mode. Not all modifications are propagated to Galley View.

Nevertheless Dorico provides gradual dynamics with molto or poco annotations.
Select the hairpin, klick on molto in the Gradual Dynamics section of the right zone and make these settings in the properties

@charles_piano was faster :grinning_face:

I was just adding that to my post :slight_smile:

Thanks Charles. Put it down to senility!
