StreamDeck Sideshowfx Profiles? Any success with Cubase 14? BUGS!

Hi,

Does anyone experience issues with Cubase 14 and the Sideshowfx streamdeck profiles for Cubase 14 (last version)? I just bought it during Black Friday but it does not work. The script receives the midi info from the StreamDeck (I have checked) but it does not execute any command.

All the configuration is 100% correct, it just does not work. Contacted their support, but I did not get any solution yet more than the “check the settings again or reinstall the script”. I did that 100 times, it’s not that. The script loads, is connected to the midi ports and receives signals from the StreamDeck, it just doesn’t execute commands.

Ah, and my StreamDeck works perfectly with any other profile or configuration. I have been using it for months without trouble.

I’m on MacOs Monterrey.

Any idea what could it be?

UPDATE: I found out that the problem is the script itself. It does not create the Midi controller automatically. If I do it manually, there are NO MAPPINGS whatsoever. So, it is 100% useless so far.

Support is not helping at all. They keep replying the same: reinstall the script, check the midi ports. I showed then 3 times where the issue is coming from, they seem to ignore it.

I’ve done it 100 times. I have tried everything. No solution so far, so I’d be aware of this if I was a Cubase 14 user on a Mac environment before buying it.

Same thing happening for me! I was using it just fine when I was on Windows. I jumped ship just this last week and tested with the newest version they have. Pretty disappointing…

Glad I am not alone. Well, I am still fighting for a solution. If I find one I’ll let you know. I think I may have found a solution but I need a certain file and I’m waiting for it. I also asked them for a refund, but they ignored it.

I can install and setup successfully any other midiremote script except theirs…so my system is working perfectly.

Do you still have access to the previous system where their script was working? Can you check if you can find a file somewhere in User Settings or in the Midi Remote folder that ends with _globalmappings.json?

Something similar to: SideshowFX_Track Mix Strip_XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX_globalmappings.json

that long XXXXXXXX is an alphanumeric code that is unique to your system. I just need its contents, that I believe are the mappings that are missing in the buggy installation.

Likewise cant get it work

I tried installing other midiremote scripts from other developers and they worked well, so it is definitely a Sideshowfx issue, not Cubase 14.

Hello,

I am Arbi the Developer for sideshowfx Midi Remote.

I will try to replicate and look deeper if I can post a clean solution.
Hold On.

Arbi

I found the issue. It is that globalmapping.json file I was talking about in previous messages. Delete it from the Midi Remote folder from your computer, delete the script and controller and reinstall. It should be fine. For some reason the script does not overwrite it in my Cubase 14. As soon as I did that, things are finally working and all the cubase function mappings are there in the mappings list.

We will be releasing an update and providing a guide on how to remove the old SideshowFX MIDI Remote safely from our pack and reimport a new Script.

If you have any questions, feel free to email me at arbi@sideshowfx.net.

Cubase/Nuendo MIDI Remote Update Guide

Follow these steps to update and clean old SideshowFX MIDI Remote scripts:

  1. Remove Old Files
  • Delete the SideshowFX_Track Mix Strip.json from the directories:
    • Windows: C:\Users\USER_NAME\Documents\Steinberg\Cubase\MIDI Remote\Driver Scripts\Local\SideshowFX\Track Mix Strip
    • Mac: /Users/USER_NAME/Documents/Steinberg/Cubase/MIDI Remote/Driver Scripts/Local/SideshowFX/Track Mix Strip
  • Delete the _globalmappings.json file from:
    • Windows: C:\Users\USER_NAME\Documents\Steinberg\Cubase\MIDI Remote\User Settings
    • Mac: /Users/USER_NAME/Documents/Steinberg/Cubase/MIDI Remote/UserSettings
  1. Clean MIDI Remote Settings
  • Open Studio > MIDI Remote Manager in Cubase.
  • Remove the SideshowFX_Track Mix Strip Control Surface from the Controller tab.
  • Delete the corresponding script from the Script tab.
  1. Restart System
  • Reboot your system after deleting the files.
  1. Install Updated Script
  • Import the new MIDI Remote Script through MIDI Remote Manager or add a control surface in the Lower Zone of the MIDI Remote tab.
  • Follow any prompts to overwrite or input:
    • Vendor: SideshowFX
    • Model: Track Mix Strip
    • MIDI Ports:
      • Input: StreamDeck2DawTrack
      • Output: DawTrack2StreamDeck
  1. Restart Cubase
  • Restart Cubase to ensure the new mappings load correctly.

You can test the setup by verifying that command items light up when using the StreamDeck profile.

Is the profile worth it if you want to load plugins with it? I saw that you can only load 8 plugins per channel and always have to select the slot first. So it doesn’t automatically recognize that it should load the plugin into the next free slot?

This didn’t work for me! Very frustrating! I now switched tyo mac and am scared to buy the mac version.

I’m using the profile now. But since I only use 20-30% of all the functions, I slimmed down the Cubase MIDI remote script. I simply deleted the assignments I didn’t need. It also had the background because it didn’t work well with my Nektar CS12 controller. Everything’s fine now. I was mainly interested in the plug-in loading function. With VST, it works with just the press of a button. With VST FX, it’s not so feasible because Cubase doesn’t allow it. You first have to select the insert slot by pressing a button and then you can select the plug-in. Since that’s too much pressing on the stream deck for me, I simply move the mouse to the corresponding insert slot and then load the plug-in with the button.

yeah , there is no better way to implement the VST FX that selecting the slot first with mouse. Thus, the best solution is hover manually with the mouse.

but you could suggest any workflow that I can possibly implement for this to be efficient. I would like your idea please.

Hi guys, mind explaining a bit, what exactly you’re doing for loading fx plugins? Some screenshots would be useful, perhaps I could suggest a workaround.

I load plugins into the insert slot using Stream Deck and the aforementioned script. The good thing is that it works with the script. With VSTs, you can simply press a key, and the previously assigned VST is loaded. With VST FX, you first have to hover the mouse over an FX insert slot, and only then is the VST FX loaded.

By “loading” you mean opening the window for editing the VST?

No. By loading, I mean the correct loading of a plugin into an effect slot
