Cubase/Nuendo MIDI Remote Update Guide

Follow these steps to update and clean old SideshowFX MIDI Remote scripts:

  1. Remove Old Files
  • Delete the SideshowFX_Track Mix Strip.json from the directories:
    • Windows: C:\Users\USER_NAME\Documents\Steinberg\Cubase\MIDI Remote\Driver Scripts\Local\SideshowFX\Track Mix Strip
    • Mac: /Users/USER_NAME/Documents/Steinberg/Cubase/MIDI Remote/Driver Scripts/Local/SideshowFX/Track Mix Strip
  • Delete the _globalmappings.json file from:
    • Windows: C:\Users\USER_NAME\Documents\Steinberg\Cubase\MIDI Remote\User Settings
    • Mac: /Users/USER_NAME/Documents/Steinberg/Cubase/MIDI Remote/UserSettings
  1. Clean MIDI Remote Settings
  • Open Studio > MIDI Remote Manager in Cubase.
  • Remove the SideshowFX_Track Mix Strip Control Surface from the Controller tab.
  • Delete the corresponding script from the Script tab.
  1. Restart System
  • Reboot your system after deleting the files.
  1. Install Updated Script
  • Import the new MIDI Remote Script through MIDI Remote Manager or add a control surface in the Lower Zone of the MIDI Remote tab.
  • Follow any prompts to overwrite or input:
    • Vendor: SideshowFX
    • Model: Track Mix Strip
    • MIDI Ports:
      • Input: StreamDeck2DawTrack
      • Output: DawTrack2StreamDeck
  1. Restart Cubase
  • Restart Cubase to ensure the new mappings load correctly.

You can test the setup by verifying that command items light up when using the StreamDeck profile.
