I use the cmd + shift + spacebar to preview the sounds in my piece. However, after accidentally activating the playback, my strings’ mood wheel (I think that’s what it is called?) keeps going soft and after that, I have to go all the way to play, plugin, and manually raise it. Anybody knows what I am missing?
You should find that both during scrub playback and during regular playback, the mod wheel is manipulated automatically by Dorico, if that’s what is specified in the expression map. It looks to me as if you have been manually loading sounds into HALion Sonic, which of course is fine – but when you do that, make sure you are also choosing an appropriate expression map in Play mode.
When Dorico loads sounds automatically for you, it’s able to choose the right expression map automatically as well. When you load sounds yourself, Dorico doesn’t know which sounds you’ve chosen to load into your VST instruments, and so you have to also take care of specifying the appropriate expression map in Play mode.
