StudioLive ar12c not sending audio to Cubasis on ipad

I have my StudioLive ar12c hooked up to my Ipad via usb-c cable. Cubasis 3 sees the 14 channels. I can assign each channel to a different track but then no sound is being transferred to the DAW on the ipad. I have the tracks armed and the board has good levels going to yellow and I hear the instruments in the headphone mix on the board. Any suggestions? is it the cable? do I need a camera connection instead of usb cable? am I missing a setting in Cubasis to connect the board? If I have the microphone set to on in Ipad settings, the microphone will record on all tracks I have set to the board channels also.

Check if Microphone is enabled in the system settings for Cubasis and also check if the gain in the Cubasis Audio settings is up as some interfaces (which are software controlled) can set it to zero…

Thanks Samuel. But I am having a hard time finding settings where to enable the microphone on the ipad version of cubasis. Does that setting only appear when the board is connected? or are you saying to enable the microphone in the ipad settings for cubasis. because all that does, is use the ipad microphone instead of using input from the mixer.

Launch the Settings app, after that depending on iPadOS version the location list of apps varies. In iPadOS18.x all apps are at the bottom of the list under Apps.

Find Cubasis and check if Microphone is enabled.

Another way is to look under ‘Privacy & Security’ under ‘Microphone’ here you’ll see all apps that have requested to use the Microphone (or record using external interface).

A 3rd way, In the Settings app type Cubasis in the Search field and tap Cubasis to check its settings if Microphone is enabled.

Good Luck!

Thanks man! but the problem is, with the ipad set to “microphone on” for Cubasis, the external microphone on the ipad itself is being used and not the microphone plugged into the mixing board or any instruments plugged into the mixing board.

The mixing board is plugged into the ipad via usb and is supposed to be acting as an interface. But cubasis is not recognizing the mixer at all. Just keeps using the Ipad’s microphone.

I’d suggest getting in touch with Presonus and asking them if the arc12c is officially supported when using it with an iPad (there is no mention of the iPad in the entire manual).

They might be able to assist and I bet @LSlowak will be more than happy to provide them with a promo-code in case they need to do some testing :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

I found this at the Presonus site…

Thanks man! I appreciate the help!

Hi @dborchelt99

Cubasis for iOS/iPadOS full supports using class compliant audio devices with up to 64 ins/outs (depending on the capacities of the audio device in use).

Since we’re not equipped with the device, we suggest getting in touch with our friends at Presonus to further discuss the issue.

We’re at hand to provide them with free promo codes for testing purposes, if required.

Best,
Lars
