Hello Steinberg Developer Team,
I’m a software developer working on an audio application, and I’d like to use the Steinberg ASIO SDK in my project.
I’m currently trying to understand the correct licensing process and how I can obtain access to the SDK. Could you please let me know:
-
whether I need to sign a specific license agreement,
-
where I should submit it,
-
and how I can receive the ASIO SDK download link?
I would appreciate any guidance on the correct procedure.
Hello,
I would also appreciate clarification regarding ASIO integration and licensing for independent audio software developers.
I am currently developing an audio player application. The project is under development now, but future commercial distribution is being considered, therefore I would like to understand the licensing requirements correctly from the beginning.
Could you please clarify:
-
Is ASIO SDK access available for independent developers and future commercial projects?
-
The ASIO SDK page mentions GPLv3 availability. If an application uses the ASIO SDK and is later commercially distributed, does this require the application itself to become GPL-compatible?
-
Is there an alternative commercial licensing path for closed-source applications?
-
If an application does not use or distribute the ASIO SDK itself, but discovers installed ASIO drivers through the Windows registry and loads vendor ASIO DLLs dynamically at runtime, would this still fall under ASIO SDK licensing requirements?
-
What is the officially recommended integration path today for audio applications intended for commercial distribution?
Thank you.
